The Josie Memorial Pet Project

Thank you for your interest in The Josie Memorial Pet Project! The JMPP was named in memory of founder Debbie Lucchesi's dog Josie. After Josie's passing, Debbie wanted Josie's name and loving spirit to live on, so she created the Josie Memorial Pet Project in her honor.

The Josie Memorial Pet Project is a California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation, with 501c3 tax exempt status.

The project began as Debbie Lucchesi’s attempt to fill the void left by the loss of her best friend and faithful companion of fifteen years, Josie. (6/2/96-8/5/11) What started as a project to turn scrap fabrics into bedding for shelter animals has grown into a mission to support animal rescue. The project not only produces bedding and toys for donation to animal shelters and rescue groups, but works to fill pet-related product needs through the provision of custom-produced or purchased items. Whether it be custom trap covers for feral cat TNR groups, cat cage shelf covers for a shelter or rescue group, custom adoption cage covers, leashes and collars, or specially-sized cat hammocks, the project’s goal is to meet the needs of the organizations without tapping their already limited budgets. The JMPP is also involved in trap-neuter-return, community outreach, and animal rescue efforts in its community.

The JMPP is an all-volunteer organization. There are no paid employees or compensated board members. Because all JMPP work is done in the home of volunteers, and we do not maintain a dedicated facility, we are able to devote more of our resources to meeting the needs of shelters and rescue groups.
